Sister to Sister Mentoring Program

What is Sister to Sister?

Sister to Sister is a mentoring program at SMC that pairs up female students from the Black Collegians Program and Adelante Program with female students from John Adams Middle School (JAMS). The objective of this program is to expose middle school students to a positive female role model and demystify the "college world" to them.

Philosophy

Using mentorship as a means to connect with these young women, Black Collegians and Adelante Programs student are committed towards developing meaningful relationships with them, while providing encouragement and a tangible example of someone they can aspire to become.

Required Commitment/Schedule

Mentors/JAMS Students who participate in the program will need to be available every Thursday from 3:15 pm - 4:15 pm during the Spring and Fall semesters. Sister 2 Sister will resume in Spring 2023!

Mentoring Schedule

During each session, the mentors will spend time with their students doing a variety of group activities, and specialized one-to-one time that may include playing board games, sports, or other activity in an effort to bond with the students.
