Faculty Expectations

 

Faculty members expect and want students to do well.

Here is a list of some faculty responses when asked, “What are your expectations of high school students taking a college class?”

  • Be open to new material.

  • Read the syllabus (course reading and assignment list), keep up with the work, and don’t fall behind!

  • Be ready for class. Pay attention!

  • Attend class regularly, be willing to learn, and do the reading!

  • When writing papers use proper grammar and make sure you spell check your work.

  • Ask questions.

  • Meet with instructors from time to time to discuss your progress in the class.

  • Take notes during class, even if the material is available from another source.

  • Follow directions completely.

  • Know the material necessary to do well on the exam.

  • Express views of the material in a well-thought-out manner, and give support for your views.

  • Don’t be afraid to take chances intellectually.
