The Language Lab Support team provides basic troubleshooting and technical assistance to SMC language students. Support is available by appointment or through email, phone, or Zoom.

The Language Lab Support Desk is closed during all campus holidays, breaks, and when classes are not in session. Hours are subject to change.

Schedule an Appointment

Schedule an appointment with the Lab Support Desk for one-on-one assistance via Zoom, phone, or in person at Drescher Hall, Room 220.

How to Schedule an Appointment

Access the Form: Scroll down to locate the appointment form, or open it directly in your browser.
Select a Service: Choose the service you need from the Lab Support Desk. Select “Show more services” to view the full list if needed.
Choose a Date and Time: Pick a convenient date and time for your appointment.
Enter Your Information: Provide your name, SMC email address, phone number, and any other required details. Fields marked with an * are mandatory.
Add Comments (Optional): Use the notes section to share any specific concerns or requests. Answer any additional questions to help us prepare for your appointment.
Submit the Form: Review your information for accuracy, then click the “Book” button and check the acknowledgement box to submit. A confirmation email will be sent with meeting details. If you don’t see it, check your Spam or Junk folder.
Join the Zoom Meeting (opens in new window) (if applicable): If your appointment is virtual, use the Language Lab Support Desk Zoom link (opens in new window) to join at your scheduled time.

Where is the Lab Support Desk located?

The Lab Support Desk is in Drescher Hall, Room 220, across from the John Drescher Planetarium. Enter through Drescher Hall, Room 219.

How do I make an appointment?

Appointments can be scheduled using the online appointment scheduler or by contacting the Lab Support Desk directly. Walk-ins are also welcome at Drescher Hall, Room 220 during open lab hours.

Do I need an appointment to receive support?

Can the Lab Support Desk provide course suggestions or academic advice?

My computer or mobile device isn’t working. What should I do?

For issues with personal devices, contact the device manufacturer first. The Language Lab Support Desk does not diagnose or repair personal hardware or software. However, you may use a workstation at the Modern Languages Lab in Drescher Hall, Room 220.

Before troubleshooting, save your work. Try the following steps:

Restart your computer or mobile device.
Close unnecessary apps or background programs.
Clear your browser’s cache and cookies (note: this may sign you out of websites).
Try a different browser, computer, or mobile device.
Check your internet connection or switch to another network.
Install any available updates for your browser, device, or apps.
If the issue continues, contact the Language Lab Support Desk or Student IT Help for further assistance.
