Language Lab Support Desk

The Language Lab Support team offers basic troubleshooting and technical support for SMC language students. Students may schedule an appointment with Help Desk staff or contact the Lab Support Desk via email or telephone. Walk-ins are also welcome at Drescher Hall, Room 220.

Friday: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Saturday - Sunday: Closed

The Language Lab Support Desk is closed during all campus holidays, breaks, and when classes are not in session. Hours are subject to change.

Schedule an Appointment

To schedule an appointment with the Lab Support Desk, use the appointment scheduler below. You can update your appointment through the confirmation email you receive or by contacting the appropriate support desk assistant. Please note that if you are more than 10 minutes late, your meeting may be canceled. We reserve the right to cancel or modify appointments due to unforeseen circumstances.

To use the online form, follow these steps:

Access the Form: Scroll down below this guide to find the form ready to fill out. Alternatively, you may access the form directly in your browser.
Select a Service: Choose the specific service you require from the Lab Support Desk. If necessary, select 'Show more services' to view the complete list of available services.
Choose Appointment Date and Time: Select a suitable date and time for your appointment.
Add Your Details: Provide your name, SMC email address, phone number, and any other relevant details. Items marked with an * are required.
Additional Comments: Include any specific concerns or requirements in the notes section. Answer any additional questions as prompted; this will help us prepare in advance. Items marked with an * are required.
Submit the Form: Once all the necessary information is filled in, review it for accuracy. When ready, click the "Book" button to submit your appointment request. You will receive a confirmation email with details on how to attend your meeting. If you do not see the confirmation email, check your Spam or Junk folder.
Join the Zoom Meeting (if applicable): If you have scheduled a Zoom meeting, use the Language Lab Support Desk Zoom link to join your virtual appointment.

The Language Lab Support Desk provides technical support for language students.

If you need help with studying, homework, or course objectives, visit the free Modern Languages Tutoring Center or visit your instructor doing their office hours.

How can I locate information like dates, times, and Zoom details for my class?

Contact your professor for details regarding class dates, times, and other important information. This information can often be found on Canvas or in your course syllabus. If you're unsure about your professor's email, you can find it on the Faculty page.

If you haven't downloaded Zoom yet, you can get it for free.

My computer or mobile device is not working. I am having technical problems.

Before troubleshooting your device, reach out to the manufacturer for assistance. You may consider using a workstation at the Modern Languages Lab, located in Drescher Hall, Room 220. Note that the Language Lab Support Desk team is unable to diagnose or troubleshoot personal devices.

Remember to always save your work before troubleshooting. Here are the initial steps to resolve technical issues:

Restart your computer or mobile device.
Close any unnecessary apps or background resources.
Clear your web browser's cache and cookies. Note that this may sign you out of websites and apps.
Try using a different web browser, computer, or mobile device if possible.
Check your Wi-Fi or internet connection and try a different network if possible.
Check for any available updates for your web browser, computer, or mobile device, and apps.
If the issue persists, seek assistance from the Language Lab Support Desk team or Student IT Help.
