Transparent Language

Transparent Language is a free language learning platform available to SMC language students, provided their instructor chooses to use it. It offers a diverse range of activities aimed at assisting students in their learning process.

When logging in to Transparent Language, students should use the provided Login Portal below to access their accounts. Students will need to create their own Transparent Language student account and use the appropriate Class Code to access the app.

Student Account Information

To create a Transparent Language account, follow these steps:

Visit the Transparent Language Login Portal.
Go to the 'Sign Up' tab.
Choose a Username, preferably your SMC Network Username which you may find by using the Username Look form.
Enter your first and last name.
Provide your SMC student email address.
Select a unique password that is at least 8 characters long, including a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter, and a number.
Confirm your password.
Agree to Transparent Language's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
Select 'Create Account'.
Enter your Class Code and select 'Enroll in classes'.
Choose the language of your course.

Note: Transparent Language accounts are only for SMC students in Modern Languages courses and will be deactivated at semester's end.

Each instructor is assigned a unique Transparent Language Class Code. You can enter your course's Class Code when creating your Transparent Language account or by visiting the 'Classes' tab later.

The Language Lab Support Desk provides technical assistance and support for Transparent Language and other lab resources.

Students can contact a Lab Support team member via email, phone, or by scheduling an appointment. Walk-ins at Drescher Hall, Room 220 are also welcome. How do I enroll in my course in Transparent Language?

When you initially create your account, you should receive a prompt to input your class code or enrollment code. Alternatively, you can navigate to the "Classes" tab and utilize the "ENROLL IN A CLASS" button.

How do I find out my class code or enrollment code?

I forgot my Transparent Language username or password.

I am experiencing technical issues with Transparent Language.

You can find specific troubleshooting steps for Transparent Language on the Transparent Language Help Center.

Before troubleshooting your device, reach out to the manufacturer for assistance. You may consider using a workstation at the Modern Languages Lab, located in Drescher Hall, Room 220. Note that the Language Lab Support Desk team is unable to diagnose or troubleshoot personal devices.

Remember to always save your work before troubleshooting. Here are the initial steps to resolve technical issues:

Restart your computer or mobile device.
Close any unnecessary apps or background resources.
Clear your web browser's cache and cookies. Note that this may sign you out of websites and apps.
Try using a different web browser, computer, or mobile device if possible.
Check your Wi-Fi or internet connection and try a different network if possible.
Check for any available updates for your web browser, computer, or mobile device, and apps.
If the issue persists, seek assistance from the Language Lab Support Desk team or Student IT Help.

Is there an additional cost for Transparent Language?

I am not currently enrolled in a language course. Can I still access Transparent Language?

How long will I be able to access Transparent Language?

I've used Transparent Language before. Can I keep using the same Transparent Language account for a new semester?

No, Transparent Language accounts are closed after each semester concludes. Even if you have used Transparent Language before, you must have a new account each semester; otherwise, you would not be assigned to your correct course section.
