Student Account Login Information

Each semester, Mango Languages accounts are automatically created for language students on the first day of classes. Your Mango Languages username and password are different from those used for Corsair Connect and Canvas.

You will need your course section number and SMC Network Username to log in to your Mango Languages account.

• To find your course section number, refer to your syllabus.
• To retrieve your SMC Network Username, visit the Username Lookup Form (opens in new window) .

Username Formula

Course Section Number + SMC Network Username

Your Mango Languages username is your course section number combined with your SMC Network Username (in UPPERCASE).

Example usernames

• Username Example 1: 1234SMC_NETWORK_USERNAME
• Username Example 2: 1234DOE_JOHN
• Username Example 3: 1234DOE_JOHN01
• Username Example 4: 1234DOE_JOHN_01

Password Formula

smc network username

Your Mango Languages password is your SMC Network Username (in lowercase). You may change your password after you have finished logging in.

Alternative Formula*

Course Section Number + smc network username

*For students with SMC Network Usernames of 7 characters or fewer.

Getting Started

When can I start using Mango Languages?

Access begins on the first day of the semester and ends on the last day. Accounts are not available before the semester starts.

Is there a cost to use Mango Languages?

No. Accounts are provided at no cost to all SMC language students each semester.

How do I access Mango Languages?

Refer to the Student Account Login Information section for details on your username and password format.

Can I use Mango Languages if my instructor isn’t assigning it?

Yes. Mango Languages is available for use even if it is not required for your course.

Can I use Mango Languages if I’m not currently enrolled in a language course?

No. Access is limited to students currently enrolled in a language course at SMC.

I enrolled late and can’t access my account. What should I do?

Contact the Language Lab Support Desk. Accounts are created manually, and there may be a delay for late enrollees.

Using Mango Languages

How do I track my learning time and completed lessons?

Select the language you’re studying (e.g., Spanish) in the upper left corner. Progress details appear on the left-hand side.

How do I save my progress?

Progress is saved automatically. No action is required.

Can I use Mango Languages for American Sign Language (ASL)?

At this time, Mango Languages does not support ASL. We recommend you try Transparent Language or the Language Lab Media Finder instead.

Troubleshooting and Technical Issues

I don’t know my course section number. What should I do?

Check your course syllabus or contact your professor.

I don’t know my SMC Network Username. What should I do?

Use the Username Lookup (opens in new window) form. You’ll need your first and last name and your SMC Student ID. If you don’t know your ID, contact Admissions & Records.

My device isn’t working. What should I do?

For issues with personal devices, contact the device manufacturer first. The Language Lab Support Desk does not diagnose or repair personal hardware or software. However, you may use a workstation at the Modern Languages Lab in Drescher Hall, Room 220.

Before troubleshooting, save your work. Try the following steps:

• Restart your computer or mobile device.
• Close unnecessary apps or background programs.
• Clear your browser’s cache and cookies (note: this may sign you out of websites).
• Try a different browser, computer, or mobile device.
• Check your internet connection or switch to another network.
• Install any available updates for your browser, device, or apps.
