Video Express Counseling on Zoom

Video Express Counseling through Zoom now offered.  What is express counseling? Express counseling is for quick questions (for example, some prerequisite waivers, unit increase requests or general transfer questions) and sessions are ten minutes.

If you are an International Student, please visit join the F-1 Zoom Express Counseling Waiting Room.

Video Express Counseling is not for creating education plans or transcript evaluation.

You must have an SMC student ID number and a photo ID available when you join. If you need more than 10 minutes, you will be referred to the General Counseling and Transfer Services queue.

Note: If you are unable to join, all time slots have been filled. If you need assistance today, visit Counseling Location & Hours for options.

How to Join Video Express Counseling

  1. You can join via the free Zoom app.

  2.  Test the audio and video settings on your device. 

  3. It is best if you join on a laptop or desktop (smart phones may limit some of the application capabilities). We cannot proceed with the session if you are driving. 

  4. Make sure to have a photo ID available when you join.


Video Express Counseling is currently available during the following times:

  • Monday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Thursday: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Friday: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The schedule may change depending on the week of the semester. Make sure to check back for an updated schedule.
