Transfer Requirements

UCLA Campus

First Step

Start by completing your math and English requirements immediately. The UC places a high priority on students that complete two (2) transferable English courses and one (1) transferable math course early in their academic careers. 

ENGL 1 or 1D
ENGL 2 or HIST 47 (satisfies area if completed Fall 2012 or later) 
MATH 2, 4, 7, 8, 10 (formerly same as CS 10), 11, 13, 15, 21, 26, 28, 29, 54

UC Santa Barbara Campus

Second Step

The UC gives high priority to students that complete major coursework early in their academic career. Look at assist.org (opens in new window) for specific major requirements. Meet with a counselor or take Counseling 12 Career Planning to help you choose a major.

UC San Diego Campus

Third Step

Complete 60 UC transferable semester units with a minimum 2.4 grade point average (2.8 for non-residents) for minimum eligibility. The GPA for admission can be significantly higher due to the applicant pool. Along with math and English, and your major coursework, you are required to complete four courses in at least two of the following areas:

  • Art/Humanities
  • Social/Behavioral Sciences
  • Physical/Biological Sciences

UC Berkeley Campus

Fourth Step

Complete your general education (GE) requirements, usually by completing the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC).
UC Santa Cruz Campus

Fifth Step

Apply on time! The UC application opens August 1st, however, submission occurs October 1 thru November 30. Some UCs accept Winter and Spring applications. Check with a counselor to see which UCs are accepting.
