Show Me the Money! How to Pay for Your Bachelor’s Degree

This workshop will provide detailed information regarding the cost structure of a Bachelor's degree and what funding options are available to student's. Federal, state, and institutional financial aid will be reviewed as well as unrestricted scholarship opportunities.

Recommended for all students.

How to Transfer to CSU Northridge and Other CSU's

An SMC counselor will review the most recent transfer requirements for the CSU, give tips on how to become a more competitive applicant, and provide an overview of the unique features of the CSU campuses.

Recommended for students in their first year.

Associate Degree for Transfer

In this workshop students will learn more about the AD-T and how SMC students can earn an Associates Degree for Transfer and increase their chances of admissions to a CSU and other participating universities. Certain requirements and deadlines must be met.

Recommended for all students.

CSU Application Workshops

An SMC counselor will explain how to complete the CSU application. The entire application will be covered line by line and questions will be addressed.

Recommended for students applying for transfer to CSU.

Transfer Application Support

Counselors will be available to assist students with the transfer application(s). If you have mixed records, it is recommended that you have copies of transcripts from all colleges attended

NOTE: If you have completed coursework at another U.S. accredited college or university or have Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, or College Level Examination Program scores, it is very important that you have the coursework evaluated by a Santa Monica College counselor. The evaluation will determine if the courses satisfy general education requirements for transfer to UC or CSU campuses, or for an SMC degree.

I'm Admitted! Next Steps for Transfer (Financial Aid, Housing, Etc)

Information on the final steps to complete a successful transfer will be covered. For example, sending final transcripts, CSU GE or IGETC certification, and attending orientation at your transfer institution.

Recommended for students admitted and transferring Fall 2024.

Denied Admission? How to Appeal.

This workshop will help students understand and craft an appeal to have their admission decision reconsidered.

Recommended for students denied admission for Fall 2024.
