About the Program
The Title IX Leadership Program empowers students to become advocates for a safer, more respectful campus environment. Through this series, you’ll connect with fellow students and learn from professionals working in prevention, crisis response, and survivor support.
Workshop Topics
Workshops will be led by experts from organizations such as:
- SMC Office of Human Resources
- The Rape Treatment Center
- The Jenesse Center (domestic violence advocacy)
- SMC Student Equity Center
Topics will focus on understanding consent, supporting survivors, intervening safely, and confronting gender-based harm both on campus and beyond.
Certificate Requirements
All Santa Monica College students are welcome to attend individual workshops. However, to earn the 2025 Title IX Leadership Certificate, participants must:
- Attend the Orientation via Zoom on September 23
- Attend all four in-person workshops
- Submit a short “Pay It Forward” reflection paper describing how they plan to apply what they’ve learned to their own life, their peers, or the greater community
Participants may also develop an optional Action Plan to address a Title IX-related issue at SMC or in the broader community.
