Being a part of the “Transfer Team” (including Sara Nieves-Lucas, Transfer Center Director, Estela Narrie, Articulation Officer, and Erika Knox, Completion Counselor) makes me #ProudToBeSMC. The team works hard to assist students with their transfer goals and transfer success, and seeing the transfer stories student share in the spring nearing graduation warms my heart because this validates all the hard work we put year round.
During the pandemic, I developed a weekly schedule which includes having lunch with my dad, sister, and brother-in-law. I also go walking to the beach with my sister Martha after our workday ends.
Our team began weekly meetings by checking in with each other to make sure everyone was doing well mentally. This was a great way for all of us to de-stress by sharing challenges, strategies, and ideas with each other.
