Transfer Requirements

First Step
Start completing “The Golden Four” as soon as you can. Complete one course in each of the four areas below:
- English C1000 (formerly ENGL 1) or 1D
- Business 32; Communication Studies 21; English C1001 (formerly ENGL 2), 31; History 47; Philosophy 7, 9 (Philosophy 9 satisfies requirement if completed Fall 2011 or later)
- Communication Studies COMM 1000 (formerly COM ST 11), 12, 16, 21
- Math 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10 (formerly same as CS 10), 11, 13, 15, 21, 26, 28, 29, STAT C1000 (formerly Math 54)

Second Step
Complete 60 CSU transferable semester units with a minimum 2.0 grade point average. The GPA for admission can be significantly higher because of the major, campus, and/or applicant pool.

Third Step
Complete coursework in the major along with your general education (GE) requirements. Look at www.assist.org for specific major requirements. To satisfy GE, you have three choices: Cal-GETC, IGETC or CSU GE. Meet with a counselor or take Counseling 12 Career Planning to help you choose a major.

Fourth Step
Apply on time! The California State Universities (CSU) application opens August 1st. All CSU's begin accepting applications October 1 for the following Fall. The sooner you apply, the better your chances are for admission. Some campuses are open for transfer in Spring. Some CSUs accept Spring applicants, but you should check with a counselor or click the link below.
